Position Summary: The Electrical Systems Designer will perform CAD work to develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials, and is responsible for implementing the electrical design of JLS systems.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for creating custom detail designs of panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and conduit schedules per UL 508A, NEC, and NFPA codes and guidelines as well as customer requirements
  • Perform heat calculations and safety distance calculations for electrical panels and robots
  • Interfaces with Engineering teams to ensure designs and layouts are appropriate for the system
  • Responsible for meeting project milestones and communicating any concerns or issues
  • Investigates and recommends component substitutions as needed to Systems Engineering and department managers
  • Coordinates with the purchasing department and vendors to acquire the necessary materials to complete projects
  • Creates drawing packages and provides this information to document control
  • Collaborates with team members to research and select new technologies to use in JLS systems
  • Assists other Electrical System Designers by finalizing drawings and redlining documents to correct information based on feedback from Production and Field Service
  • Interfaces with the panel shop to track the build phase against design and to collect feedback
  • Participates in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and in-house testing as requested to support FAT activities and to learn the functions of JLS systems
  • Develop and maintain electrical standards as well as component databases within CAD
  • Proficiency in developing macros to streamline repetitive tasks across utilized software platforms
  • Effectively troubleshoot potential issues on the shop floor or in the field
  • Mentor and train new team members
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Electrical/Technical discipline
  • 8+ years of related experience working within a similar industry
  • Proficient with electrical CAD design software, with a strong working knowledge of 2D schematics and 3D panel layout work
  • Experience with ePlan P8 and ProPanel or SolidWorks Electrical is desirable
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Proficient in MS Office and advanced computer skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and track multiple concurrent projects and meet project deadlines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

 

Work Environment:

  • Environment: Corporate office environment that requires regular use of desk, computer, keyboard, mouse, phone, and printers.
  • Travel Requirements: 10% on average
  • Physical: Fine manual dexterity; ability to sit for short periods of time; frequent walking or standing.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
