Position Summary
The CNC Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the CNC machining team to ensure efficient and high-quality production. This role involves leading a team of machinists, providing training and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities
- Read technical drawings and set up the machines in accordance with part blueprints
- Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications
- Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise
- Train new employees on how to properly operate CNC machines
- Perform dimensional inspection of product as required
- Perform weekly safety and maintenance checks, and document
- Enter last run statement
- Monitor and change cutting tools or inserts as needed
- Run production when necessary
- Aware at all times of correct orientation of product being placed in machinery
- Enter commands and store programs in computer memory to build and maintain source files
- Adjust feed rates and speeds, utilizing knowledge of CNC machine operation
- Review shop orders and drawings to determine job specifications and requirements
- Light supervisory duties reporting to Production Supervisor
- Attend production meetings as required and provide full departmental updates.
- Review all CNC SOPs on a periodic bases and update as needed.
- Inventory tooling and pallets used for all CNC operations.
- Read shop order and obtain correct product type and quantity to run
- Inform Production Supervisor of any issues with operation or quality
- Maintain a clean workstation
- Wear proper PPE at all times and conform to all safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties, as assigned
