Job Summary:Â Â
Performs duties to set up, adjust, and operate various types of tube cutting and end finishing equipment to produce tubing of a specified length and end condition. Receives direction from Shift Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â
- Conscientiously work toward running a safer and cleaner operation.
- Ensure that all guards are always in place.
- Sets up, installs, and adjusts tools, collets, clamps, targets, etc. for product size, desired length and end finish.
- Operate controls to produce cut-to-length and chamfered or deburred tubing.
- Verify finished tubing is within size and length tolerance and satisfies order requirements for straightness and surface finish.
- Segregate discrepant material from prime product.
- Perform minor polishing of collets and clamps if/when necessary.
- Check bundle tag to verify tubing being delivered to the machine coincides with order requirements.
- Accurately and legibly complete product tags and production records.
- Refer concerns about tubing quality or equipment conditions to Shift Supervisor.
- Use tape measure, micrometer, common hand tools.
- Communicate with employees of other shifts regarding status of operations, equipment, tooling, special assignments, etc.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures on cutoff and end finishing machines.
- Assist maintenance repairman in repair of cutoff and end finishing machines.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
- Assumes various other duties at the direction of shift supervisor.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:Â
Good mechanical aptitude. 80 to 160 hours on-the-job probationary period. Passing grade on job qualification exam and satisfactory demonstration of ability to perform duties of the job. Complete set of necessary hand tools upon completion of probationary period.

Perform duties proficiently, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands. Must have strong work ethic. Must be able to work flexible schedules and hours.
