Required Technical Skills, Experience, Education, and Credentials:
- Master's Degree is required in the field of Social Work, Counseling, or related Human Services Field
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Travel is not required for this position
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Professional workplace appearance and conduct; friendliness and courtesy to clients, coworkers and vendors.
- Effectively communicates and develops good working relationships with co-workers.
- Reliability in reporting to work regularly and on time.
- Must possess good communication, listening, writing and organizational skills.
- Experience with adults undergoing a psychiatric crisis.
- Minimum of 1 years’ supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of community resources available to consumers in the Milwaukee County area.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to assist clients with activities of daily living, such as shopping, cleaning and cooking.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may experience or must do to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- On occasion must be able to move, transport, position, push/pull and/ or lift objects and/or equipment weighting at least up to 50 pounds a distance of 450 feet
- This position is responsible for the supervision and safety of clients in a crisis setting. As such, this position must be able to observe and assist client’s activities, detect areas of danger, and distinguish when consumers who are non-communicative are in need of personal cares, assist consumers in performing tasks that require fine motor skills and converse clearly with consumers and other people in the community on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to successfully convey complex directions to a diverse group of people in both writing and verbally.
- Must have the ability to climb at least two flights of stairs.
- Work is performed largely at the Crisis Resource Center, a fast paced office environment, utilizing many office appliances including a personal computer.
- Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours and average at least 40 hours a week.
- This position requires participation in reoccurring ‘on-call’ duties and flexibility in daily work schedule to adequately meet program needs, which may include evenings or weekends.
