Description

Under the supervision of Program Supervisor, the Family Stabilization Family Support Advocate (FS FSA) forms part of the Newport Mesa (NMFRC) collaborative within the Families and Communities Together (FaCT) grant and the County’s CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) Family Stabilization Program. The FS FSA is responsible for providing comprehensive case management and family advocacy services to Human Options clients who may or may not have experienced domestic violence with referrals directly from the county’s CalWORKs WTW - Family Stabilization Program.

 

Overall, the FSFSA is responsible for screening clients, ensuring participants access services, follow up with participants as needed, complete pre and post assessment tools, perform home/office visits as needed, participate in outreach events, work closely with internal and community partners in other Social Services Agencies, and prepare and submit data and reports as required by grants.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve all Family Support Services referrals.
  • Assist individuals with the completion of registration paperwork (as needed).
  • Assess family strengths and needs and complete case plans.
  • Provide family case management to ensure family’s linkage and referral to services.
  • Perform home/office visits, with social workers when necessary, and as allowed by direct supervisor.
  • Communicate applicable case related information to the Social Services Agency (SSA) staff, as requested. 
  • Work evenings and/or weekends, as needed. Co-locate at least one day during the week at a CalWORKs regional office. A maximum of two regular weekly evening shifts will be required.  Schedule flexibility will be needed to participate in outreach events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in behavioral science, related field, or commensurate work experience. 
  • Three years of experience providing direct services to the target population.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Two years of experience in case management with at risk children and families.
  • One year's knowledge of the child welfare system preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources and familiarity to utilize resource linkages in Orange County.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues and challenges of family violence in the community.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel and working knowledge of computer database program entry and report generation.
  • Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire.
