Vancouver’s Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring a skilled and team-oriented Bilingual Prevention Navigator. The SW Washington Bilingual Prevention Navigator provides office & community-based HIV/STI testing services, primarily targeting MSM (men who have sex with men) and other populations disproportionately impacted by HIV, specifically focusing on the Latino/a/x and Spanish speaking communities. 

 

This is a Full-time role working at our SW WA location in Vancouver WA. With one day a week at our Longview WA location. The schedule for this role is a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office and two days working remotely. You will be working Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri 9:00am-5:00pm and Thursday 11:00am-7:00pm.

Starting pay is $23.29 an hour + $2.00 bilingual pay, which is equivalent to $52,600 a year. The SW WA Bilingual Prevention Navigator’s pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $27.04 + $2.00. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

 

Who You Are

  • Verbal and written fluency in Spanish. 
  • 2 years of experience working in Community Health or 1 year experience working in Community Health combined with a bachelor’s degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field 
  • Understanding of HIV, HCV, and STD transmission and prevention methods, as well as familiarity with Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) 
  • Previous experience collaborating extensively with members of a team to ensure clients experience successful services centered around their needs 
  • Experience working with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations and a strong understanding of issues relevant to gay/bi/trans men, people living with HIV, BIPOC communities, and the LBGTQ+ community and how those issues affect or influence service delivery 
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle. * 

 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide community-based HIV/STI testing services in both English and Spanish operating CLIA-waived rapid HIV and HCV test devices.
  • Perform patient screening & assessments.
  • Conduct blood collection and phlebotomy and providing patient education on safe-sex practices and harm-reduction methods.
  • Attend various community-outreach events and utilize geospatial social networking applications.
  • Conduct outreach into community settings (including public sex venues and online) as appropriate to reach highest risk MSM and other priority populations. 
  •  Ensure equitable access to services for Spanish-speaking individuals through document translation and specialized outreach activities.
