GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Site Administrator, the Dental Supervisor is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the dental clinic. This position ensures that all programmatic and performance goals and objectives are met. In addition, the Dental Supervisor ensures compliance with regulations and follows Ampla Health policies and procedures. This position will work closely with the Dental Service Coordinator and dental providers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Assists Site Administrator in dental clinic productivity and ensures goals are met.
- Assists Site Administrator with supervision of dental support staff, but not limited to:
- Recruiting, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining of staff.
- Review and approve time off requests and ensure coverage of staff directory.
- Orientates and trains all new dental assistants.
- Reviews and informs dental support staff of regulations affecting their work.
- Collaborates with Site Administrator to maintain optimum patient flow from front to back dental office.
- Monitors and instructs dental support staff to ensure productive scheduling of patient appointments.
- Collaborates with Dental Service Coordinator with the implementation of dental workflows.
- Runs reports for patient exam and procedure visits and recall reminders.
- Attends and participates in the Quality Management Committee and works closely with the dental provider(s) and care teams to ensure quality metric goals are met.
- Initiates dental referrals for specialty and procedures and assigns to referral coordinator(s).
- Trains all dental staff annually for OSHA with the assistance of Dental Service Coordinator.
- Assures a safe and sanitized, well-maintained dental clinic.
- Creates and/or modifies new dental provider schedule templates and adjusts provider schedules as needed for meetings and/or PTO when Site Administrator is not available.
- Assists with accounts receivables and maintenance of appropriate records.
- Participates in collection and consolidation of data for appropriate records and reports.
- Facilitates resolution of patient’s complaints.
- Ensures that daily stats are compiled.
- Collaborates with Site Administrator in scheduling and facilitating monthly dental staff meetings at which all dental staff and providers will be present.
- Maintains accurate records of staff meetings, in-service, and special trainings.
- Responsible for maintaining dental inventory and ordering supplies and equipment.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Utilizes effective means to resolve conflict.
- Effective time management skills.
- Other duties as assigned by Site Administrator.

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Valid California RDA license.
- Current CPR card.
- Current Coronal Polishing certificate.
- Valid x-ray certificate.
- Experience in management and supervision of dental clinic.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Must have a good working knowledge of Ampla Health and its mission, supports the organization's objectives and priorities.
- Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor and instills professionalism in his/her staff.
- Must have good organizational skills, punctual and dependable, follows good practice of personal safety.
- Demonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health’s clinic structure, standards, procedures, and protocols.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Works well with patients in a comfortable environment office. Employees must possess the following physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels)
- Must be able to hear and communicate with clients and staff on the telephone and those who are served in person and speak clearly to communicate information to clients and staff.
- Must have vision which is adequate to read memos, computer screens, registration forms and other clinic documents.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level to work. Must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.
- May be exposed to contagious/infectious diseases.
