The Clinical Support Specialist will work closely with patients who have various behavioral problems, such as substance abuse and various co-occurring disorders. In this position, the Clinical Support Specialist will be working alongside the patient throughout multiple levels of care.

Recognize obvious symptoms of mental disorder or substance use disorder.

Protect and maintain the confidentiality of patient records and information.

Recognize, prevent, and respond to a situation in which a patient may be a danger to self or others, behaves in an aggressive or destructive manner, may be experiencing a crisis situation, or may be experiencing a medical emergency.

Performs intake assessment, including urine drug screen, pregnancy test, Fentanyl dip test, BAL test.

Performs body searches and skin audits, in addition to property search, property handling and documentation.

Develops, implements, and contributes to patient treatment plan.

Verifies patient demographic information and medical insurance information upon admission and at entry to different levels of care.

Maintains consistent communication with the referral source(s) and Buena Vista treatment team regarding pertinent admission information via the designated organizational platforms.

Completes all admissions paperwork within the EMR and maintains data integrity as well as log inventory, property/body search and collect UA samples.

Primarily completes the Biopsychosocial assessment, GAD7, PHQ9, and ASAM assessment within the Electronic Medical Records system within 24 hours of patient's admission. May also complete BPS updates through patient stay.

Keeps patients safe by following safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and submits incident reports per policy.

Protects organization reputation by keeping information confidential and demonstrating consistent professionalism.

Remain fully coordinated with the Detox, RTC, and Outpatient Clinicians throughout all activities occurring within the structured programming.

Conduct psycho-educational groups in collaboration with treatment team

Focus all activities upon reducing risk factors, identifying symptoms of substance misuse/mental health issues and help patients to successfully connect with the appropriate resources.

Coordinate all activities with other Behavioral Health staff members and providers.

Complete documentation within patient records in a timely fashion (within 24 hours of service delivery)

Takes necessary steps to remain compliant with HIPAA and all confidentiality and professional standards, without exception.

Monitor group dynamics and provide appropriate psycho-educational material to match patient need.

Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
