Insect Taxonomy Intern

The Center for Environment and Society is creating an insect collection to feature local insects trapped within native grasslands and roadside habitats.  Insects are an important ecosystem component and recording their diversity will assist in better understanding environments.  The intern will be responsible for pinning all previously collected insect specimens, creating labels and identifying specimens as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Washington College.
  • Strong interest in ecology and insects.
  • Motivation to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, enthusiastic team player.
  • Experience using a dissecting microscope and insect taxonomy preferred, but not required.

Additional Info

  • Intern will be paid $15/hour for approximately 10 hours/week.
  • This internship is housed within the Center for Environment and Society.
  • Work will be conducted Semans-Griswold Hall and remotely.
