Job Title: Fleet Manager
Location: Denver Christian School – Lakewood, CO
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Finance and Facilities

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000

Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager oversees the management and maintenance of the school’s transportation fleet, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with regulations. This role includes managing vehicle operations, coordinating student transport, supervising drivers, and optimizing resource use.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Oversight: Manage vehicle procurement, maintenance, and scheduling. Ensure buses meet safety and operational standards.

  • Maintenance Management: Implement a comprehensive maintenance program, build relationships with service providers, and manage repairs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure vehicle compliance with safety and environmental regulations and maintain records.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the fleet budget, focusing on cost efficiency.
  • Driver Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate drivers, ensuring safety and job satisfaction.
  • Route Planning: Coordinate daily routes and adjust based on enrollment or other factors.
  • Safety & Training: Oversee driver safety programs, conduct inspections, and ensure equipment functionality.
  • Communication: Serve as the point of contact for transportation inquiries and collaborate with other departments.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop emergency plans and ensure driver preparedness for crises.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in transportation or logistics management, preferably in education.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of school transportation regulations.
  • Proficient in transportation software and technology tools, as well as knowledge of local and state regulations pertaining to school buses.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, CDL with Airbrakes & School Bus Endorsements.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting, standing for long periods, and navigating school premises.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Irregular hours, including early mornings, late afternoons, and occasional weekends.
  • Mostly office-based with occasional travel for inspections.
  • On-call availability for emergencies and special events.
