Location: Denver Christian School – Lakewood, CO

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Reports To: Head of School

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

 

Job Summary:

The Communications Manager serves as the central hub for all external communication and messaging for the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring consistency, clarity, and effectiveness in delivering the organization's story to the public, while maintaining a cohesive brand voice. The Communications Manager will collaborate with various teams and departments to produce and distribute a wide range of content across multiple channels, including press releases, newsletters, social media, and the website.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Press Releases & Announcements:
    • Write and distribute press releases and public announcements to media outlets.
    • Ensure all messaging is consistent and aligned with the organization's goals and values.
  • Public-Facing Content:
    • Ensure messaging for all external communications is consistent, clear, and on-brand for the organization.
    • Develop and manage the narrative for the organization, telling the story of DC in a compelling and engaging way.
  • Website Management & Updates:
    • Oversee and update the organization’s principal websites to ensure they reflect current information, events, and messaging.
    • Work with web developers to ensure the site’s functionality and usability.
  • Email Campaigns & Coordination:
    • Coordinate and manage email campaigns, ensuring they reach target audiences effectively.
    • Collaborate with other departments to gather content and deliver consistent messaging.
  • Blogging & Content Creation:
    • Write, edit, and publish blog posts that highlight the organization’s activities, events, and news.
    • Review and update blog content to keep it fresh and engaging for the audience.
  • Storyboarding for Videos:
    • Work with the creative team to storyboard and develop video content that aligns with the organization’s messaging.
    • Ensure video content is effective and visually compelling in conveying key messages.

 

  • Cross-Department Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, Performances, and Social Media teams to ensure alignment in messaging across all platforms and initiatives.
    • Coordinate with other departments to gather content and promote cross-departmental communication efforts.
  • Graphics & Visual Assets:
    • Oversee the creation of graphics for all communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
    • Work with graphic designers (or develop your own materials) to ensure visual consistency and professionalism.
    • Point of contact for all communication vendors.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in communications or public relations, with a strong writing portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content management systems, and email marketing tools.
  • Experience in managing website content and familiarity with basic HTML/CSS.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to tell compelling stories and simplify complex ideas.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles is a plus (experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools).
  • Organizational and strong calendar planning skills

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking or Moving Around:
    • Employees may need to walk to different areas of the office, attend meetings, or retrieve documents, but walking is typically minimal compared to other roles (e.g., retail or manufacturing).
  • Sitting for Extended Periods:
    • Most office roles require employees to sit for long periods, especially when working at a desk or computer. It’s important for workers to take regular breaks to avoid strain.
  • Light Lifting:
    •  Some office roles may require light physical tasks, such as lifting boxes of supplies, office materials, or packages (usually no more than 10–15 pounds).

 

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor Environment:
    • The work is generally performed in an office setting, often with controlled temperature, lighting, and ventilation.  
  • Regular Office Hours:
    • Office jobs typically follow standard working hours, often from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. occasional evening or weekend work required for events or time-sensitive communications.
  • Technology Use:
    •  Work typically involves using computers, phones, and other office equipment, such as printers, scanners, or copiers.
