Position Type: Full- Time, Salary

Reports to: Director of Finance & Facilities

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000

 

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources at Denver Christian School, ensuring the recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality staff who align with the school's mission and values. This role manages employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The HR Manager plays a vital role in supporting a positive, fostering staff development, and contributing to a culture of collaboration and growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Staffing:
    • Lead the recruitment process for faculty and staff, including advertising positions, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and hiring personnel.
    • Collaborate with department heads and administrators to ensure hiring needs are met in alignment with the school’s vision and mission.
  • Employee Onboarding & Orientation:
    • Manage the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, training, and ensuring they understand the school’s policies, culture, and expectations.
    • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to new staff during their transition into the school community.
  • Employee Relations & Support:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff regarding HR policies, benefits, and workplace issues.
    • Foster a positive, supportive, and Christ-centered work environment through conflict resolution and staff support.
    • Support leadership in creating programs and initiatives that promote staff morale and professional growth.
  • Performance Management:
    • Oversee the performance evaluation process, working with leadership to provide feedback, set goals, and identify professional development opportunities for staff.
    • Assist in addressing performance concerns in a timely and compassionate manner, in alignment with school values.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Administer employee benefits, ensuring that compensation packages are fair, competitive, and aligned with the school’s budget and goals.
    • Maintain records and ensure compliance with applicable laws regarding taxes, benefits, and employee rights.
  • Compliance & Policies:
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including labor regulations, safety standards, and employee rights.
    • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures, ensuring they align with the school’s mission and legal requirements.
  • Staff Development & Tracking: 
    • Tracking professional development.
    • Coordinate and lead training sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, compliance, and school policies.
  • Records Management & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, within HRCM and schools’ management system. 
    • Provide regular HR reports to the supervisor, tracking key HR metrics such as turnover, staff satisfaction, and professional development participation.
  • Other Duties:
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the school and its staff.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HR management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting, with a minimum of 100 employes.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and benefits administration.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience with HR software systems, Paycom preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking or Moving Around:
    • Employees may need to walk to different areas of the office, attend meetings, or retrieve documents, but walking is typically minimal compared to other roles (e.g., retail or manufacturing).
  • Sitting for Extended Periods:
    • Most office roles require employees to sit for long periods, especially when working at a desk or computer. It’s important for workers to take regular breaks to avoid strain.
  • Light Lifting:
    •  Some office roles may require light physical tasks, such as lifting boxes of supplies, office materials, or packages (usually no more than 10–15 pounds).

 

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor Environment:
    • The work is generally performed in an office setting, often with controlled temperature, lighting, and ventilation.  
  • Regular Office Hours:
    • Office jobs typically follow standard working hours, often from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. occasional evening or weekend work required for events or time-sensitive communications.
  • Technology Use:
    •  Work typically involves using computers, phones, and other office equipment, such as printers, scanners, or copiers.
