Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals delivered to the homes and congregate sites of seniors in the Greater Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky communities. Meals on Wheels supports the independence of seniors while promoting their social, physical, and emotional well-being, so they may remain in the comfort of their own homes.
The Meals on Wheels Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) is a full-time, Monday - Friday position (with occasional evenings and weekends) and is a member of the Leadership Team. The position, in collaboration with the CEO, is responsible for developing and managing all advancement functions of the organization as well as the marketing and communications functions. The CAO will manage a staff consisting of a Director of Marketing and Communications, Development Manager, Special Events and Partnerships Manager, Development Assistant, and a part-time Grants Writer.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The CAO will manage the organizations external outreach functions including development and marketing and communications. Development functions will include campaigns, major gifts, annual giving, special events, and planned giving. Marketing and Communications will include the organization’s annual report, newsletters, website and social media presence, event support, development support, organizational storytelling, and all programmatic collateral.

Work is performed in an office environment as well as in the Greater Cincinnati Community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Contributes to the overall running of the organization through inclusion on the Leadership Team.
- Manages donor moves management for the organization and will manage a donor portfolio of approximately 100 donors; responsible for managing to the annual development budget goal (to include new donors, gift renewals, gift increases, and recapturing lapsed donors).
- Ensures a grants calendar is accurately maintained and helps secure grant support from multiple sources (government, foundations, corporations). In partnership with the Development Manager and part-time Grants Writer, submits grant proposals/applications, conducts necessary research, writes narratives, and oversees the grant process to completion.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams to monitor all grant-funded program activities, expenditures, and reporting. Ensures grants are compliant (local, state, federal laws as well as any sponsor guidelines).
- Oversees all annual direct mail and electronic mail appeals.
- In collaboration with the Development Assistant, ensures data base integrity, conducts regular donor research, produces timely and accurate acknowledgements, and creates necessary reports for all levels of the organization.
- Supervises the Events and Partnerships Manager to produce high-quality events, and develops partnerships with corporations and other non-profits to help ensure Meals on Wheels generates the resources necessary to deliver upon its mission.
- Working with the Development Manager, starts and manages a planned giving society.
- Works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to establish a marketing / development calendar of communications, represents the organization at events and with the media, helps create cause marketing opportunities, and oversees advertising, third-party communication-based relationships, and internal communications.
