Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for obtaining diagnostic nuclear medicine images. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to ensure accurate diagnostic images for interpretation, while maintaining ALARA standards. Promote understanding of the procedures to patients and ancillary staff. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

  1. Performs all Hot Lab procedures and documentation accurately utilizing the scope of practice for nuclear medicine technologist defined by SNMMI following ODH guidelines and regulations.
  2. Demonstrates proper handling of Radioactive materials.
  3. Performs high quality scan images for interpretation.
  4. 75% attendance at department meetings. (9/year)
  5. Assists Out Patient Department with scheduling all Cardiac and General procedures.
  6. Confirms appointment and test preparation with outpatients.
  7. Prepare patients for Cardiac Studies (IV and EKG lead placement)
  8. Competent PET Scan patient preparation and radiopharmaceutical injections.
  9. Performs Quality Control on Cameras and calibration equipment.
  10. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • ARRT-N or NMTCB registered with current radiologic licensure from the State of Ohio Department of Health required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Maintains compliance in RQI required.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Interpersonal skills, computer skills, Dose Calibrator, Geiger Counter, Captus well counter and uptake probe, glucometer, Stress Lab EKG machines and treadmills, Blood Pressures and Pulse Oximeter.
  • The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the diagnostic imaging area.

 

Compensation Details:  Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
