Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Interventional Tech is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographs. Assisting in administration of contrast media related to particular diagnostic procedures. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

 

Job Functions:

  1. Position patients; immobilize as necessary.
  2. Assist physician during angiographic and interventional procedures.
  3. Operate fluoroscopic equipment. Position patients for rapid sequence filming during contrast media administration.
  4. Set up sterile trays and other equipment practicing sterile technique.
  5. Assist physician during procedure to include handling of instruments, operating and monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings; alerting physician to changes in patient condition.
  6. Scrub to assist with passage of catheters/guidewires.
  7. Load power injectors with contrast media; prepare for injection.
  8. Maintain studies within the Image archival system.
  9. Schedule patient procedures.
  10. Charge patients for procedures and supplies in EHR.
  11. Assist in orientation of new technologists; provide education and training to student technologists. Maintain patient records and statistical data. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow; coordinate procedure performance across different hospital divisions (anesthesia, radiology). Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein (patient transport, etc.)
  12. Maintain supply inventory; order supplies.
  13. Assist with training of new physicians.
  14. Assist radiologists with development of new protocols and imaging techniques that are unique to facility.
  15. Orient new technologists to these procedures.
  16. Monitor charging of procedures and supplies for division to ensure correctness.
  17. Monitor assigned inventory expiration dates.
  18. Maintain a par inventory of catheters, balloons, stents, guidewires, and miscellaneous kits under discretion of manager.
  19. Monitor inventory levels and par-levels.
  20. Maintains compliance in RQI.
  21. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • ARRT registered or registry eligible (equal to 2 years post high school) and licensed by the State of Ohio.
  • Basic EKG Class within one year.
  • Cardiac Interventional Radiography Certification (CIRC) within 2 years required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required – will obtain during hospital orientation.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Interpersonal and basic clerical skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Experience with angiography preferred.

 

Compensation Details:  Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
