The Memorial Health System is proud to offer a Pharmacy Technician Residency Program which provides the necessary training to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Our training program is recognized by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and blends online learning with on-the-job training to launch your career as a pharmacy technician.

Job Functions:

  1. Technician Training: On-the-job completion of a comprehensive online training course with over 100 credit hours, a midterm exam, and a final exam. Completion of the PTCE within the first 9 months of employment. Our training course includes the necessary curriculum along with several practice exercises to prepare you to take the PTCE.
  2. Pharmacy Operations: Communicate with pharmacists, physicians, nursing staff, and other pharmacy technicians to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. Appropriately initiate billing functions such as debiting and crediting. Provide guidance and training to new pharmacy staff as needed. Perform nursing unit and medication storage audits assigned by pharmacy supervisor.
  3. Medication handling: Fill and deliver medications in a timely and efficient manner. Prepare sterile products following all necessary regulations and precautions including USP 797. Repackage pharmaceuticals as needed. Manage department and unit inventory by anticipating medication needs, placing medication orders, and managing outdated medications. Pyxis activities include restocking, new loads, expiration date checking, inventory management, and troubleshooting as required. Fill and deliver medication and physician orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  4. Perform additional duties as required by the pharmacy director and pharmacy supervisor.
  5. Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Trainee License from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy prior to start date; must obtain the required criminal records check by submitting fingerprints to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and FBI via a WebCheck provider located in Ohio to become licensed prior to starting.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Typing, interpersonal skills, and some computer knowledge.

 

Compensation Details:  Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
