GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide diagnostic psychiatric evaluation and ongoing psychiatric medication management.
- Consult with psychiatrists or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered.
- Develop and implement treatment plans per agency guidelines.
- Distinguish between physiologically and psychologically based disorders and diagnose appropriately.
- Prescribe appropriate medications. Will plan and institute a course of treatment demonstrating knowledge of drug action, interaction, and reactions.
- Initiate requests for laboratory studies as needed. Identify normal and abnormal findings, interpret, and initiate medication alterations or follow-up treatment as indicated.
- Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate care.
- Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
- Return calls and emails promptly (within 24 hours of receipt or sooner if clinically necessary)
- Responsible for making independent decisions utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions.
- Complete progress notes within 48 hours of service
- Complete identified outcome measures as defined by the agency.
