Position Title:  International Student Services Coordinator

Department: Enrollment Management                 

Position Reports To: Director of Student Enrollment & Success

 

Job Summary:

The international student services coordinator serves as the primary contact for international students. The individual in this position will oversee the admissions process, provide orientation and advising services, and coordinate with other campus departments to ensure opportunities for engagement on campus and in the community for the international student population.  This position also serves as the PDSO (Primary Designated School Official) for SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System), ensuring that both the school and its international students follow immigration regulations and that the school maintains its eligibility to enroll students. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.

 

Position Duties:

International Student Admissions:

  • Oversees the institution’s SEVIS account and ensures that student records are accurately maintained.
  • Guide students through the international student admissions process
  • Maintain admissions files on international applicants
  • Assess student transcripts to determine eligibility for enrollment
  • Provide new student orientation sessions for incoming international students
  • Prepare reports on international student enrollment and retention
  • Coordinate with the Director of Student Enrollment & Success to ensure admissions procedures are up-to-date and in compliance with state and federal laws

 

International Student Advising:

  • Oversee testing and placement compliance
  • Assist students in completing a plan of study
  • Advise students on transfer and immigration requirements
  • Provide enrollment assistance
  • Monitor student academic progress and follow-up with students and stakeholders as necessary

 

International Student Life:

  • Assist with arranging transportation to and from the airport upon arrival and departure from the U.S.
  • Assist with other college entities to provide off-campus day trips
  • Sponsor the International Student Organization
  • Provide opportunities for intercultural awareness
  • Assist with coordinating the foster family program for international students
  • Coordinate with other college entities to provide health, mental health, and academic assistance services as required

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Computer skills in basic office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and student data systems.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
  • Ability to work and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work. Work well under deadline pressures.
  • Excellent human relations skills. Ability to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and diverse populations.
  • Preferred knowledge of SEVIS regulations and SEVIS database.
  • Understanding of and commitment to quality improvement initiatives.

 

 

Required Education Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

 

Required Experience: Two years in a higher education setting, experience in international advising or international education preferred

 

 

Supervisory Requirements: None.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to move freely around the campus and outreach centers; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, reach and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to drive motor vehicle; and ability to work on the computer for long periods of time. 

 

Work Environment:

Work performed in an office environment.
