POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chief Human Resources Officer is an executive leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of the human resources function. This includes employee relations, employee engagement, talent development, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and fostering overall staff well-being. The CHRO plays a key role in shaping and implementing strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness, equity, and alignment with the agency’s mission and values, while ensuring the seamless execution of critical HR initiatives and projects.
As a senior leader, the CHRO serves as a strategic coach, collaborative partner, and inspirational leader to the HR team and across the organization. A successful candidate in this role will have strong communication skills, leadership acumen, conflict resolution expertise, analytical thinking and foster a positive work culture. They must be a brand ambassador for the organization and motivate others to align with strategic initiatives and serve at their highest capacity. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a vital member of the agency’s executive leadership team, which includes A Chief Financial Officer, a Chief Development Officer, a Chief Program Officer, and a Chief Operating Officer.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the CEO and executive team, creating and executing comprehensive people strategies that align with the organization’s strategic plan.
- Accountable for strategic plan goals and initiatives related to human resources, including project management of related efforts.
- Define, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department, ensuring all functions and initiatives are strategically aligned to achieve and surpass performance goals.
- Build and lead a highly effective, collaborative, and customer-focused human resources team that regularly evaluates and improves its processes.
- Provide advice and support to managers on employee-related issues to ensure consistent practices and alignment with the Company values and policies.
- Investigate and address employee complaints/concerns to maintain a fair and constructive work environment consistent with the organization’s culture.
- Assess and provide guidance on how long-term planning, new initiatives, strategies, and regulatory actions impact the organization's ability to attract, motivate, develop, and retain its workforce.
- Analyze internal and external workforce demographic trends, including in the DEI space, and develop strategies to ensure future access to sufficient talent with the necessary skills and mindset.
- Maintain and update all job descriptions and career paths to clarify roles and the development required to advance.
- Ensure human resource information is accurate and supports the needs of executives, managers, and employees.
- Ensure that the organization’s employment policies are created, updated, and administered consistently, supporting effective management of the people resources.
- Model the values and principles of HomeFirst within the agency and the broader community.
