Role:

It Takes A Village Leadership Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Spanish teacher to join our vibrant PreK-2nd grade school community. The Spanish teacher will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and supportive school culture, promoting student success, and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and contribute to their overall academic, social, and emotional growth. This role requires travel among our sites to support the needs of our school community.

 

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement a Spanish language curriculum aligned with proficiency guidelines, PreK-2nd educational standards, and age-appropriate learning objectives.
  • Focus on engaging students in beginner language skills, including listening, speaking, and foundational vocabulary, through thematic units and interactive activities.
  • Design lesson plans that incorporate communicative language teaching methodologies, encouraging students to explore Spanish through speaking, listening, and interactive exercises.
  • Integrate authentic materials such as songs, visual aids, storytelling, and games to make language learning engaging and accessible for young learners.
  • Introduce students to foundational cultural elements, including music, traditions, and stories from Spanish-speaking countries, to foster a broader appreciation and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Assess student language proficiency through various formative and summative assessments, including oral activities, listening comprehension exercises, and performance-based tasks.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $43,019 - 52,770

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Spanish, Spanish Education, Foreign Language Education, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Spanish or Foreign Language Education.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish language and culture.
  • Experience teaching Spanish at the elementary, middle, or high school level is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
