Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, or a related field with two (2) years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of CSS, WordPress and HTML for web design.
- Experience creating professional print-ready and digital media.
- Experience in a library, education, or nonprofit setting is preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license and insurability required.
- Reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent editing and proofreading abilities.
- Extensive experience using in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop with in-depth knowledge of—and a keen eye to follow—multimedia professional design standards and principals. Pre-press process experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Canva, Constant Contact, social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite), and video editing software.
- Experience using web-based analytics tools such as Google Analytics is preferred.
- Expertise in digital photography and video editing and production is a plus.
- Exceptional project management, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Confidence to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative working style with the ability to contribute to a positive and innovative team environment that values respect, listening, and learning.
- Ability to adapt, shift-gears and problem-solve in a fast-paced, dynamic work setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all organizational levels.
- Ability to travel throughout the three-county service area of Live Oak Public Libraries.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is typically performed with the employee sitting at a desk, standing for extending periods, or bending/stooping. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds routinely, climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, extended walking within and outside branch locations, reach, bend, and stoop. Full range of hand and finger motion and the ability to distinguish color is required for design work purposes. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Climbing: Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
- Manual Dexterity: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees
- Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Typical office/library environment.
- Some fluctuations in temperature due to HVAC issues.
- Periods of elevated noise levels during events.
- Potential high-stress periods due to multiple simultaneous deadlines.
- Based in the Bull Street Library Administrative Offices with a Monday-Friday, 40-hour workweek.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
