Tofurky is hiring for an Human Resources Director to join our People Operations Team. This position is full-time, onsite from our location in Hood River, OR.

Working collaboratively with our executive team, the HR Director is the subject matter expert for all aspects of the company’s Human Resources activities. The HR Director is a key member of the senior leadership team and serves as an advisor to the executive team. Overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources function, the HR Director will manage HR policies and practices, employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, and training and development, ensuring alignment with company values and business objectives.

Reporting to the President, the ideal candidate has a proactive, hands-on approach, leads with empathy, works to empower, coach, and motivate their business partners, and thrives in a metrics-driven manufacturing environment. You will consult with line management, provide HR guidance to the organization, support leadership in resolving complex employee relations issues, improve work relationships and productivity, and develop and lead HR strategies.

Responsibilities include:

HR Leadership and Strategy
· Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy to support the company’s business goals and mission.
· Provide expertise in organizational design, workforce planning, and change management to position the company for growth and success.
· Lead, inspire, mentor, and grow a high-performing human resources team.
Â
Employee Relations and Coaching
· Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
· Act as a trusted resource for employees and managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and other HR matters.
· Teach, guide, and empower line managers to navigate organizational, people, and change-related issues.
Â
HR Operations and Compliance
· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including, but not limited to, ensuring completion of manager/employee harassment training and workplace postings for labor and wage laws.
· Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
· Develop, update, maintain, and communicate all HR SOPs and policy changes to department staff regularly reviewing and updating HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to reflect current best practices.

Workplace Health and Safety
· Collaborate with managers and supervisors to ensure timely and compliant processing of workers’ compensation claims, including evaluating incident reports, conducting thorough investigations, reviewing medical documentation, and maintaining accurate records. Provide training and guidance on procedures, documentation, and systems in accordance with local laws and company policy.
· Serve as an active leader on the facility safety team, working closely with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to maintain OSHA logs, review and update safety-related policies, and ensure clear, consistent communication of changes to all employees.
· Support a culture of safety by reinforcing safe work practices, helping to coordinate employee training efforts, and promoting awareness of safety policies and procedures in partnership with the EHS Manager and operations team.

Talent Acquisition and Development
· Oversee the recruitment and hiring process partnering with our hiring managers on all aspects of hiring.
· Develop and implement onboarding and retention strategies to enhance employee engagement and minimize turnover.
· Design programs to promote career growth and development, including management training and succession planning.

Metrics and Reporting
· Establish and monitor key HR metrics, including turnover, employee engagement, and recruiting performance.
· Leverage data insights to inform workforce planning, identify areas for improvement, and support strategic decision-making across HR functions.
· Prepare and present reports to the leadership team on HR trends, challenges, and opportunities.
