- Bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant field such as political science, public administration, or public policy.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience including at least 3 years of experience tracking legislation and regulations in multiple states.
- Ability to quickly analyze proposed legislation, regulations, and rules to determine if it is of concern to the organization.
- Experience working in Congress, a state legislature or a federal agency is preferred.
- Familiarity with state and federal legislative and regulatory processes.
- Familiarity with or interest in higher education and healthcare policy encouraged.
- Strong research skills, ability to identify and gather difficult to find, published information and documents.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex policy information.
- Ability to present complex policy information in succinct manner that can be quickly and easily understood.
- Project a professional image through in-person and phone interaction.
- Possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and express discretion in matters as required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
- Ability to work successfully in a diverse team environment and collaborate effectively with others
- Must be able to successfully work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to learn new technology as needed.
- Experience using legislative and regulatory tracking software.
- Ability to travel to member meetings to support ADEA events as needed, including some weekends and overnight travel (approx. 3-5/year)
- Ability to work at ADEA’s DC office on a hybrid basis three days per week and as needed.
