The Machine Shop Technical Specialist will implement, sustain and evaluate machining processes to reduce cost, improve throughput, and develop best practices within the machine shop. The main focus is on implementing and maintaining reliable and safe machining processes while improving quality, production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. Machine Shop Technical Specialist will identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions to constantly improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Access and understand daily and weekly schedules.
  • Find, read, write & follow work instructions displayed electronically (iPad).
  • Correctly use all precision measuring instruments to verify part integrity.
  • Correctly load and unload parts.
  • Set-up and manage applicable tools.
  • Make any machine adjustment to maintain part integrity.
  • Restart the machines at the required place in the operation.
  • Design and make fixtures using CAD.
  • Generate an effective CNC program using CAM.
  • Produce good parts when given just a blueprint and a machine.
  • Design and implement a complete machining process that will run continuously unattended. This includes probing, back up tooling, macros, design of complex fixtures that are easy to use and continuously improving the process.
  • Identify the proper gages to ensure part integrity.
  • Train Operators to run the machines and produce good parts upon completion of a set up.
  • Train others on machining principles and techniques.
  • Maintain machines (oils, coolant, filters, and cleanliness).
  • Display the leadership qualities required to keep multiple machines running effectively.
  • Present and communicate technical issues at the highest level within the organization.
  • Identify potential machine geometry issues causing bad parts.
  • Follow all safety requirements within the department.
  • Must be able to operate both powered and non-powered material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jack, cranes, and mobile straddle stacker lift.

  • Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Knows how to inspect a part.

Education

High school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) credential such as general education degree (GED) is required, plus an additional one to three months related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
