Located at the foot of Lookout Mountain in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee, Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is the area’s largest private school, enrolling over 1,400 students in grades PreK-12. CCS is seeking a Paraprofessional for grades K-2 at The Glenwood School for the 2024 - 25 school year, beginning late July / early August 2024.


Job Title: Paraprofessional

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment Status: Full-time, 40 hours

Reports to: The Glenwood School Principal

 

PURPOSE/FUNCTION:

Assists teachers in Kindergarten through 2nd grade with the instruction and care of students.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with early childhood students in a variety of settings.

  2. Assists with addressing student behavior to increase student independence in the classroom.

  3. Maintains confidentiality for students at CCS.

  4. Works under a licensed teacher to implement lessons for a variety of academic subjects included guided reading and small-group math sessions.

  5. Helps with administrative duties as needed.

  6. Communicates clearly through speaking and writing.

  7. Facilitates positive social exchanges for students with disabilities and students who are typically developing.

  • Ability to work well with children across a variety of settings.
  • Proficient with a range of technology.
  • Character, call, and availability to fulfill needs of job description.
  • Highly motivated and able to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student matters.

  • This is a role that requires standing, walking, running, sitting, squatting, and jumping for a significant amount of time each day.

  • The employee may need to physically support students and should have no health issues which would prevent assisting a student getting in and out of a chair.
