Johnson County Advanced Manufacturing Program - Dual Credit HS & Ivy Tech Students Only
Purpose of Position/Summary:
Under the direction of Human Resources, the JC AMP Intern will be responsible for learning and assisting with multiple manufacturing functions, while meeting the competencies of the program.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Safety
- Identify safety concerns
- Reporting and demonstration of proper procedure
- Assist in cleaning and organization for safe working environment
Communication & Teamwork
- Maintain and organize information received
- Ask questions to create understanding and provide suggestions
- Communicate with others upon request to help the team move forward
Business, Continuous Improvement & Professional Development
- Learns current business practices and identifies the relationship to goals
- Helps others learn about the quality of our products and business success
- Provides suggestions for improvements
Lean Manufacturing, Inventory, & Material Processes
- Conducts manufacturing work in each department
- Assists with inventory when necessary
- Learn and review the product control & warehouse operations
Professional Skills
- Good attendance
- Professional and positive attitude
Job Requirements:
This intern position requires basic computer abilities, good communication, both written and verbal. Requires the ability to be proactive, work as a team player and adapt in constantly changing situations. Requires the ability to understand and comply with all safety and environmental policies. Processes and procedures are well defined and must be followed. Qualifications include current High School student enrolled in the Johnson County Advanced Manufacturing Program with Ivy Tech Community College.
Physical Effort:
This intern position requires the ability to be on feet for long periods of time. Bending, kneeling, and squatting are required to perform tasks. This intern position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions will include the typical office and production environment. Some of the workday will be spent in the manufacturing environment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be worn at all times on the manufacturing floor. Ear plugs, safety glasses, and safety toe footwear is required in this area. Special attention to work environment and area surrounding the equipment is critical for safety.
