The purpose of the East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind shall be the rehabilitation, education, training and employment of people who are blind and visually impaired, and the furtherance of their interests and welfare through programs designed to provide rehabilitation, training and employment opportunities, being wholly charitable and benevolent.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior Systems and Network Administrator is an indirect labor support position reporting to the VP, Operations. The Senior Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for all system and network infrastructure, including the implementation and oversight of policies, procedures and best practices, along with the management of the IT support staff. The position will also configure and support server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications and the phone systems. This position will evaluate and authorize user access to data and ensure the security of corporate data stored across multiple platforms and diverse system environments. The position will also work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective application & technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects; plans, designs and implements interconnectivity for LAN and WAN; interconnects various business systems for more efficient workflow.
- Manages IT support staff projects and coordinates daily responsibilities. Also, cross trains essential IT functions as necessary to ensure adequate staff backup, as well as provide specialized training to end users.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots systems performance, keeping detailed records concerning the nature and resolution of problems.
- Manages network resource users and credentials, ensuring security of electronic data through access privileges.
- Installs, supports, and maintains network, server and storage infrastructure, both physical and virtual environments.
- Researches, analyzes, monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves server, data, and network problems.
- Keeps current regarding new hardware/software products for system enhancements.
- Performs scheduled manual network tasks, as well as automation via custom scripting and or coding where required.
- Maintains company connectivity to communication resources such as internet, email, web hosting, and phone systems.
- Performs Server / Network Infrastructure modifications where required
- Configure new and existing network equipment as needed.
- Server / Network HW/SW Updates and Upgrades.
- Inter-site connectivity (Fiber links, ISP support, inter-site infrastructure planning)
- IT Infrastructure planning
- Resource Reorganization and optimization
- Backup / Restore / Disaster preparedness
- Active Directory Management, design, maintenance, and management of group policy.
- System maintenance (Windows Updates, Sage, SQL, Sage vendor support calls)
- System(s) monitoring (Switch load, errors, BW utilization, distribution of resources, HW health, etc.)
- Facilitates integration between various existing and potentially new software and hardware to support business functions. Identifies existing system issues
- System/end user base image creation
- Manage, develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Assists in the development of departmental budget and the monitoring of expenses within approved budget
- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for changes to business applications & technology.
- Assists in the negotiation and administration of vendor/consultant contracts and service agreements.
- Assists in coordinating special projects involving IT resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
