Full Time
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 Salary/year

Description

At E Source, our passion for sustainability and energy efficiency fuels our work. We provide software solutions and research and advisory services to electric, gas, and water utilities with the goal of increasing the effectiveness of their operations, customer programs, and customer relationships. We’re on a mission to help our clients evolve into customer-centric organizations that make data-driven decisions. And we like to have fun while we do it! If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to talk to you.

As a data analyst, you’ll be responsible for organizing unstructured data from different sources, uploading it into our tools, and writing and presenting our insights to our researchers and customers. The data sources will include utility filings, program websites, evaluations, and requisitions related to energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy resources, and transportation electrification. The successful candidate is excited about data, detail-oriented, interested in writing and customer engagement, and looking to grow in the utility industry, particularly as it relates to demand-side management and beneficial electrification.

What you’ll do:

  • Organize disparate data on energy savings, program spending, incentives, and environmental impacts to draw insights and improve E Source DSM Insights and other data tools
  • Help utilities and their partners make data-based decisions about customer-facing programs and strategy
  • Help identify and write about successful demand-side management (DSM) and transportation electrification programs and industry trends
  • Provide prospect demonstrations and client support and training

What will make you a good fit:

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Experience organizing and analyzing data
  • Exposure to structured query language (SQL) and structured databases is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated interest in utility DSM programs
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to set clear expectations and communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders regarding deadlines and tool developments
  • Ability to synthesize information to create actionable, succinct, and data-driven stories to support research and custom data projects
  • Ability to work independently, with a sense of urgency, creativity, and decisiveness in an environment with tight deadlines and abstract work products
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical tools to clients and comfort with responding to client questions in real time

What makes you an ideal candidate for this role:

  • An affinity for data. You seek good, comprehensive data to inform your decisions while acknowledging that sometimes you must rely on your judgment.
  • Strategic, growth-focused mind. You see many paths for growth, but you also know that investing in one thing means not investing in another. You ask great questions and think through the risks and opportunities of decisions.
  • Rigor and discipline. You understand that without discipline and process, big ideas don’t go far. You appreciate effective processes and actively work to improve flawed ones. You manage your time well and your coworkers can count on you to do what you say you’ll do.
  • Industry experience. We’d prefer if you had experience working in or with electric, gas, or dual-fuel utilities.
  • Data analysis experience and passion. You’re a data-driven professional with an impressive track record. We prefer a candidate with two to five years of experience.
  • Humility, a collaborative attitude, and a team-first mindset. You know there are things you don’t know, and that energizes you. You believe two brains are better than one, and you proactively seek support, advice, and guidance from others. You’re proficient at working across multiple teams to accomplish large and small goals.
  • Creativity and openness. You aren’t afraid to share your ideas for how we might do things differently, and you’re comfortable with divergent thinking.
