JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Admissions, under direction, assists the director with initiatives and objectives. Performs moderately complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in operations and planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan to meet established enrollment goals and assisting with recruitment activities
- Territory management will include responsibilities, which foster strong relationships between the college and prospective students and constituents: conducting high school visits, attending college fairs, hosting coffees/receptions/events, meeting with counselors and community-based organizations, participating in college panels and case study programs, and meeting with alumni
- Review applications, evaluating academic and personal characteristics to advocate and make proper referrals for the applicant and the college’s enrollment and scholarship goals
- Host on-campus and/or virtual information sessions for prospective students and families as well as open house programs and other admission events during business hours and additional weekends and evenings as assigned
- In addition to delivering information sessions and reviewing applications, the Assistant Director will have additional responsibilities in the office
- Position requires weekends and extended hours, particularly during peak travel and program periods and during the selection process of incoming students
- Build relationships with high school counselors, independent consultants, vendors, and other constituents that influence a student's college decision making
- The Assistant Director will contribute innovative ideas and assist in refining the existing strategies to enhance admissions and recruitment, including state, regional, and national recruitment plans and marketing/advertising of the programs
- This person will oversee new student recruitment initiatives, which include presentations to groups managing the recruitment calendar, email campaigns, and social media platforms
- Lead special project area to be assigned by supervisor and office leadership. Previous examples include tour guides, student volunteers, high school counselor programs, alumni volunteers, transfer admission, faculty relations
