Civil Engineer - Land Development (Charlotte Area) 

 

BL is looking for individuals who have various levels of experience in due diligence investigation, land development, and/or utility design concept plan preparation, site design, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control design.

 

ENTRY LEVEL ENGINEER:

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • Research permit requirements and local regulations.

  • Preparation of concept plans.

  • Coordinate with project team across multiple offices on design, permitting and construction components.

  • Provide support and assist Sr team members.

  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and plans to acquire permits and permit modifications during construction.

 

Experience Required: 

  •  0-3 years of experience.
  • BSCE.  EIT preferred

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • Excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of proposed and existing grades for site layout highly preferred

 

 

ENGINEER:

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Site layout of commercial, industrial, residential, and public facilities

  • Grade sites and design of erosion and sediment control measures and post-construction stormwater management systems.

  • In-Depth use of Civil 3D to prepare alignments, surfaces, cut profiles, and generate contours.

  • Assist the Senior Engineer in procuring permits for land development projects and utility installations, including researching regulations and attending agency meetings.

  • Coordinate with project team across multiple offices on design, permitting and construction components.

  • Prepare technical reports and plans to acquire permits and permit modifications during construction.

  • Due diligence investigation including research permit requirements and local regulations.

  • Provide support and assist Sr team members with preparation of technical reports and plans to acquire permits and permit modifications during construction.

  • Mentor and develop junior staff 

  • Quality Assurance

 

Experience Required:

  • 3-7 years’ experience in land development, and/or utility design concept plan preparation, site design, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control design

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • BSCE. EIT Certification preferred. PE preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in Hydrology and Hydraulic software programs (TR-55, HyrdoCAD, Hyrdroflo, StormCAD, etc.

 

 

SENIOR ENGINEER:

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Site Layout

  • Grading and Earthwork calculations

  • Storm Water Management Design and Permitting

  • Erosion and Sedimentation Control Design and Permitting

  • Preparation/Submission of Local, State, and Federal Land Development Permits

  • Quality Assurance

  • Mentoring and Develop Junior Staff

  • Roadway improvement plan preparation 

  • Sub-consultant coordination 

  • Interaction and coordination with Local, State, and Federal review agency staff

 

Experience Required: 

  • 8+ years of civil or utility-related engineering experience

  • BSCE and PE License

  • Site layout, grading, storm water and erosion control design expertise

  • Civil-related utility design expertise

  • Trenchless technology design expertise is a plus

  • Self starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
