Description

  Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides daily supervision and direction to Branch Retail staff including preparation and communication of detailed job descriptions, review and approval of timecards, identification and approval of training needs, and assessment of resource needs          
  • Prepares schedules to ensure adequate staffing within the branch
  • Manages and oversees the Bank’s branch daily operations, reporting directly to the Retail Banking Director.  Works closely with managers to provide day-to-day guidance and direct management of retail sales and teller staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  • Promotes, effectively sells, and opens new depository accounts and services (examine, evaluate, and process) according to individual and branch goals, ensuring customer retention and growth, and provides direction to staff
  • Identifies sales referrals (cross-sales) opportunities and works closely with corporate managers, consumer and commercial lenders, mortgage department personnel, and investment representatives to sell additional bank products and services
  • Prepares oral and written performance evaluations and presents with Branch Manager/ Director of Retail Banking
  • Prepares corrective actions and performance improvement plans for approval by Branch Manager/Director of Retail Banking and Human Resources
  • Assists and works with bank management to meet branch and bank goals in accordance with approved budget
  • Serves as branch new account platform trainer and provides initial and ongoing training for new and existing retail employees (i.e., bank products/services, new accounts, and teller procedures/processes/policies)
  • Maintains consistency in implementing corporate and operational policies, procedures, and practices; legal and regulatory compliance, including audit and compliance responses and corrections; collection, maintenance, and proper recordkeeping and documentation
  • Contacts customers, businesses, and community and civic organizations to generate deposit business, meet sales goals, and promote goodwill
  • Assists Retail Banking Director in overseeing branch sales functions, including establishing retail branch goals, monitoring sales goals, and coordinating sales meetings
  • Attends monthly Retail Management Meetings and reports progress on sales, sales calls, and community activities
  • Reports branch teller monthly transactions and teller outages and prepares and distributes required branch sales reports
  • Communicates and coordinates with appropriate bank staff on servicing and maintenance of accounts and services
  • Monitors and tracks branch depository missing documents for timely resolution and accurate retention
  • Resolves day-to-day facility issues, coordinating with bank-approved vendors and service providers as needed
  • Ensures all non-post items (NSF’s) of the branch are processed daily and resolved timely
  • Attends and assists with quarterly retail employee meetings
  • Maintains day-to-day security of the branch location(s) by completing daily inspection of security cameras, quarterly inspection of branch teller panic button alarms, and annual scheduling of branch alarm tests
  • Maintains safe deposit box operations including opening and closing of vault, maintenance of entry cards and vault entry log, system maintenance, and all other related safe deposit box responsibilities
  • Serves as knowledgeable resource to tellers/lead tellers, including but not limited to:  escalated issues, Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), Regulation CC holds, outages/research, proof works scanning, proof corrections and batch processing
  • Provides backup assistance for retail staffs, (i.e. new accounts, tellers, and lead tellers.)
  • Contributes to the bank’s community service initiatives by attending bank functions within the community, interacting with customers to strengthen the community relationship, and identifying opportunities for new business

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Professionally represents the Bank at community and networking events and after-hours events as needed
  • Serve on committees and task forces as assigned
  • Prepares and delivers product/service proposals and presentations
  • Serves as the branch representative for various platform systems utilized
  • Coordinate with Retail Banking Director, Operations, and Marketing regarding new consumer and commercial product development
  • Surveys bank competitors to assist in ensuring that AVB products and services are competitively structured and priced
  • Other duties as assigned for the efficient and effective functioning of the department

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • College degree and/or 6 – 8 years’ experience in the areas of supervision, branch operations, new depository and lending accounts, service, and sales
  • Proficient knowledge of all bank consumer and commercial products and services
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proficiency in prioritizing and coordinating multiple simultaneous tasks
  • Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Office, electronic banking, and document scanning software
  • Strong numerical aptitude
