JOB SUMMARY

Supervise and coordinate the activities of Fabrication Department employees ensuring quality of work meets customer expectations and delivery dates are met. Develop a team of flexible, multi-skilled employees in accordance with our philosophies, company vision, values and strategic direction.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Vice President of Operations of the company and must communicate effectively with other members of management within the company.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. 
  • Evaluate employees’ strengths to establish responsibilities and job assignments for programming, set-up, changeovers and process control to ensure production requirements are met in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Continuous evaluation of the production process identifying opportunities for Lean improvements and increasing profitability and efficiency.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of Lead employees and monitor individual work habits and morale of the department.
  • Works with the Plant Manager to establish training and standard operating procedures for all department personnel.
  • Assists Q.A. with Inspection of materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Confer with other management members to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Works with Production Coordinator to evaluate work orders, schedules, and other reports in order to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and output.
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Responsible for the development of all department employees, including training plans.
  • Responsible for the requisition of consumables within budgeted guidelines.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Willingness to attend training to improve skills and knowledge related to management.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of fifteen to twenty years of work-related skills, knowledge, or experience.
  • Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, job costing and other techniques for maximizing the effective machining/production of goods.
  • Knowledge of business, management and Lean principles involved in strategic planning to utilize people and resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Highly skilled in mathematics and their applications.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
