JOB SUMMARY:
Prepares, produces, and bakes bread, rolls, and breakfast pastries according to hotel standard recipes, in order to contribute to overall guest satisfaction.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. Â The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•   Prepare, produce, and bake all breakfast pastries, pieces of bread, and rolls for restaurants, room service, and banquets
•   Keep an adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensure proper storage and refrigeration at all times
•   Keep spoilage and waste to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products
•   Line up baked products in mobile carts according to the needs of the particular outlet or function
•   Assist with preparation and cooking in other stations as required
•   Keep work station neat and orderly, clean as you go
•   Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•   High School diploma or equivalent preferred
•   Ability to obtain any government required license or certificates
•   Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers certification prior to beginning work
•   Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
REQUIRED SKILLS:
•   Must be reliable and responsible
•   Ability to read, listen, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
•   Basic math skills to understand measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes
•   Ability to operate kitchen appliances such as stoves, ovens, mixers, etc.
•   Knowledge of baking standard recipes, and food products associated with the same such as dough and filling
•   Knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•   Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
•   Ability to perform duties in confined spaces
•   Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
•   Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
