Senior Accountant

Holy Names Academy is seeking a full-time, year-round Senior Accountant. The candidate works with a team of professionals and will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, processing journal entries, supporting payroll functions, and assisting with audit preparation in support of the mission of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Maintenance:
    Ensure accurate and timely posting of journal entries to the ledger in accordance with company policies and accounting principles.
  • Payroll Processing and Accounting:
    Assist with payroll processing and accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of payroll transactions, including taxes, benefits, and deductions.
  • Financial Reporting and Account Reconciliations:
    Generate financial reports for internal stakeholders, including monthly and quarterly financial reports, as well as ad-hoc reporting requests. Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank and credit card accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Excel Data Management:
    Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage large data sets, create financial models, perform reconciliations, and automate reporting. Experience with pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis tools is required.
  • Audit Schedules:
    Support the preparation of audit schedules and assist external auditors during the annual audit process. Ensure timely delivery of requested financial documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or a related role, with a focus on general ledger accounting, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, data analysis).
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., MIP Abila, NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Paycom, ADP, Paychex, or similar.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
