Position Title: Kids Weekend Coordinator
Department Name: Family Ministry
Organizational Level: Support Staff
Reports to: Kids Pastor 
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Full/Part time: Limited Time
Salary: Minimum WageDate: September 2024

 

Summary/Objective:

Work on a team to equip, coach and support volunteers to lead fun and loving weekly experiences where children are encouraged to develop a relationship with Christ and with their church family.

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Carry out the ministry vision and strategy by assisting, supporting and empowering volunteers.
  2. Assist in recruiting, training and equipping volunteers to lead children with confidence and effectiveness.
  3. Work collaboratively to maintain an environment that is kid friendly, safe, clean, and wins the trust of parents.
  4. Be present in Kids Ministry areas during specific services on weekends.
  5. Ensure that ministry area is prepared to receive children and their families with proper staffing, equipment and supplies.
  6. Ensure that ministry areas/supplies are cleaned properly following weekend services and prepared for weekday scheduling on Sunday night.
  7. Know the curriculum and be able to guide, direct and explain lesson/activities to volunteers as needed in order to carry out the curriculum strategy on a weekly basis.
  8. Assist in developing volunteers through informal training and personal relationships.
  9. Ensure that proper security and risk management procedures are observed.
  10. Foster relationships with children, families, and volunteers in a manner which preserves and furthers the integrity of the ministry.
  11. Report relevant information to the Kids Pastor and Kids Assistant Director on a weekly basis.
  12. Participate in recruitment events, special ministry events, trainings and community building events when required.
  13. Pursue growth opportunities approved by the Kids Pastor and Kids Assistant Director.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

 

Time Requirement:

2.5 to 5 hours per week(end), occasional evenings, Christmas Eve and Easter services as needed.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a church/classroom facility and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand for sustained periods of time; walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must have the ability to hold and carry children up to age two.

 

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

Professional/Education

  1. 2+ years working with children, preferably some experience in a ministry or teaching setting.
  2. Proficient communication and computer skills.
  3. Able to lead, coach, develop and support volunteers.
  4. Able to lead a classroom or small group of children in the absence of volunteers.
  5. Have a love for children and Kids Ministry.
  6. Be positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional.
  7. Be able to assess and prioritize needs in a calm and collected manner.
  8. Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
