Summary/Objective:

The Maintenance Technician helps to create the most aesthetically pleasing and comfortable setting possible for our guests. This position assures the church building/property is operational and in excellent order for the guests, staff, and volunteers.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.
    1. Perform repairs, adjustments and maintenance on commercial building systems, including but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, electrical equipment.
    2. Operate computerized HVAC control systems; monitors and adjusts controls.
    3. Perform regularly scheduled maintenance of building systems.
  2. Maintain adequate parts inventory and work with Maintenance Supervisor to order items as necessary.
  3. Assist in seasonal grounds duties including landscape, parking lot, entryway maintenance and repair, snow and ice removal, and maintaining overall tidiness and cleanliness of the property and work areas.
  4. Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
  5. Perform carpentry tasks: repair furniture, doors and drywall; build cabinets; perform minor remodeling.
  6. Paint interior and exterior building surfaces, fixtures and furniture.
  7. Replace light bulbs/fixtures as needed.
  8. Maintain vehicles and equipment.
  9. Oversee carpet and floor cleanliness and address problem areas as needed.
  10. Direct the work of volunteers in the Facilities Department.
  11. Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs, maintenance and custodial duties.
  12. Assist with classroom and event setup preparations, when needed.
  13. Work with contracted vendors.
  14. Maintain appropriate maintenance, service, and repair records.
  15. Assist and serve as team member and backup to other Facilities employees.
  16. Perform other duties, as needed.

 

Time Requirements:

This position will be completed in 40 hours per week. In addition to weekday hours, hours may include evenings, weekends and holidays and requires flexibility to the work schedule.

 

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office/church environment and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand for sustained periods of time; lift, push, pull items in excess of 100 lbs; walk and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, climb and walk; work from ladders, lifts and scaffolding at heights up to 45 feet; perform in all weather conditions and seasons; perform some aspects of janitorial duties.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Professional/Education

  1. High School Diploma required.
  2. Specialized training/licenses in HVAC and Electrical preferred; Plumbing and Landscape preferred.
  3. 1+ years of experience in building maintenance or comparable trades required. Experience in HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing preferred.
  4. Ability to read and understand blueprints, preferred.
  5. Intermediate oral and written communication skills; excellent ability to speak and understand the English language.
  6. Familiarity with general building systems.
  7. Operate and use a broad spectrum of tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
  8. Ability to safely operate a range of machinery, including, but not limited to: man lifts, power washer, snow plows, small tractors.
  9. An ability to learn additional maintenance skills while assisting crew members.
  10. Ability to diagnose and implement repairs and/or mitigate issues.
  11. Able to handle multiple projects/priorities and interruptions to workflow.
  12. Maintain gracious, cooperative and professional working relationships.
  13. Basic computer skills.
  14. Must have a valid driver’s license.
