Job Summary (Purpose): Direct and supervise Quality Assurance Technicians in sampling and quality control procedures regarding in-process material and finished product to assure quality control and food safety standards are maintained and enhanced.
Duties & Responsibilities (Major):
- Train and assign work of Quality Technicians. Train and develop improvement plans for the work team.
- Compile, issue and maintain audits, certificates, sampling reports and records. Other duties include Right the First time, hold log, self-inspections, HACCP training, records review, pre-op documentation and end of year reviews.
- Be able to work off shifts as needed for training and Pre-op completion.
- Analyze facts and circumstances regarding non-complying product. Consult with and advise production supervisors as to corrective measures.
- Make recommendations for procedures, standards, and equipment to facilitate work and to maintain product quality.
- Maintain and/or issue discipline, company policies and procedures, good morale and harmonious relationships among subordinates and internal customers.
- Backup to audits including BRC, customer, GFCO, Organic, Kosher and Halal, communicate with external customers as needed.
- Make recommendations as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments and employment terminations.
- Perform all tests, sampling and other routine duties required of Technicians as needed.
- Follow all food safety, legal, quality, process control policies and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience (Minimum Required):
- Associate degree in a technical field preferred; education and experience combination will be considered. One-year supervisory experience and 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment.
