Kobussen Buses Ltd is one of the largest student transportation companies operating in multiple locations throughout Wisconsin for over 85 years.  A third-generation family-owned company servicing the communities of Wisconsin while providing Family Pride in Every Ride. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Director. 

The Human Resource Director will provide hands-on strategic leadership for the Human Resources department at Kobussen Buses Ltd. The Human Resource Director will develop and administer human resources policies, programs, and practices, including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing.  Including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance management, leave administration, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations. This position will ensure legal compliance and implementation of the overall talent strategy.  While maximizing Kobussen Buses human resource viability, safe image, employee/customer satisfaction and position in the marketplace.

  1. Assist terminal managers and safety directors with all human resource matters to include recruitment and advise on appropriate resolution to employee relations.
  2. Assist management in review, preparation, and administration of the wage and salary program by analyzing wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation.
  3. Administer the employee performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and that employee reviews are performed on a timely basis.
  4. Maintain a current working knowledge of employment and labor laws and policies as they apply to the transportation industry.
  5. Evaluate and recommend coverage, plan design changes, plan administration, vendor performance, and premium and costs related to the employee benefits program.
  6. Keep abreast of all Federal and State DOT rules and regulations.
  7. Create, manage, and maintain the job description program for the entire organization.
  8. Attend insurance meetings as necessary.
  9. Must be willing and able to travel to other terminal locations as needed.
  10. Work with and maintain knowledge of Unemployment and Workers Compensation programs and laws.
  11. Communicate well both verbally and written, while creating an environment that is inviting to people, both internal and external.

Qualifications

Education/certification/licensure:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or business-related field.

Experience required:

  • 7 years minimum experience Human Resource management experience, demonstrating good employee relations and skills.
  • Experience with Windows and PC hardware components

SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
