Description

Have you ever worked with paper and enjoy operating Cutting machines or Rewind equipment in a climate-controlled facility? Looking for stability, we have remained a family-owned business for over 116 years.

We seek motivated candidates for our Sun Prairie, WI facility, just minutes from Madison!  A Cutter is responsible for setting up and operating die-cutting machinery to produce high-quality paper products according to customer specifications and production schedules. A Label Rewind Operator is responsible for processing large rolls of material into smaller, finished rolls. They also operate various packaging and cutting equipment to cut down paper and package using an L-Sealer. This role requires a strong understanding of the paper die-cutting processes, operate a guillotine cutter, have strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE

2nd-2:30pm-10:30pm, Mon-Fri. Training takes place on 1st shift (6:30am-2:30pm)

 

WHAT DOES MY WORKDAY LOOK LIKE IN THIS ROLE?

  • Cross- trained between rewind equipment and cutting equipment.
  • Reads order jacket to determine specifications of order to be cut.
  • Set up die-cutting machines, including loading dies, adjusting pressure and speed, and ensuring proper alignment on a wide variety of equipment in Manufacturing.
  • Use two hands to set up rolls and empty spools for rewinding application.
  • May use a foot pedal to operate some pieces of rewind equipment.
  • Operate the machines safely and efficiently to cut paper stock according to job specifications.
  • Ensure that all products meet quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Proactively identify and address potential quality issues.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks on machinery.
  • Completes paperwork at end of tasks.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications and instructions.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Basic math skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience operating die cutting machines, preferably in a paper converting or printing environment


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Ability to stand for an approximate duration of the scheduled shift (minus paid breaks), lift up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally, repetitive grasping, frequent twisting, lifting above shoulder height, occasional bending, reaching, crouching, or stooping. Sensory requirements are tactile/touch with hands and digits, near and far visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasoning, mechanical aptitude, and mathematical skills for the appropriate operations of the equipment.
