Newport Restaurant Group is looking for a Staff Accountant to join the team. Newport Restaurant Group (NRG) owns and operates a number of distinct, award-winning restaurants across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. NRG also includes among its portfolio, Castle Hill Inn - a Relais & Chateaux luxury boutique hotel overlooking the stunning Newport harbor. This is a remote/hybrid remote position.
About the Position: In the Staff Accountant role, you will be responsible for the general accounting functions of multiple business units, as well as the execution of internal audit procedures and special accounting projects, as assigned.
About You: You are independent and able to prioritize tasks. You work well under pressure and have a high degree of attention to detail.
Essential Duties:
- Reconciliation and recording of revenues from various Point of Sales Systems (Restaurant & Hotel)
- Computing, classifying, and recording numerical data to keep financial records complete
- Checking the accuracy of figures and calculations, as well as verification of cash or credit card deposits pertaining to business transactions recorded by restaurants
- Preparing and posting journal entries while maintaining accurate and reasonable documentation
- Month and year end financial statements, along with balance sheet reconciliation for assigned locations.
- Preparing monthly sales tax for assigned business units
- Internal Audit - Following audit program and document procedures and findings as part of the internal audit function of the accounting department.
Compensation and Benefits:
