Director Media Relations & Executive Communications

Job Description

The Director of Media and Executive Communications will play a key leadership role in shaping and amplifying Good360’s public narrative. Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications, this individual will lead strategic media outreach, drive executive communications — including for the CEO — and manage high-level thought leadership initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic storyteller, strategic thinker, and media relations expert who can elevate Good360’s visibility and thought leadership across national, regional, and trade media outlets. This role also serves as the primary communications strategist and content developer for the CEO, ensuring consistent, compelling, and authentic executive positioning across all channels.

How Good360 is Closing the Need Gap

As the global leader in product philanthropy and purposeful giving, Good360’s mission is to close the need gap by partnering with more than 400 socially responsible companies to source highly needed donated goods and distribute them through our network of more than 100,000 diverse nonprofits that support people in need. Good360 is the link between organizations with so much to give and communities in critical need, closing that gap and opening new opportunities for all. Since 1983, Good360 has distributed more than $18 billion in needed goods, including more than $3 billion in goods in 2024 alone. Good360 has been named the #2 charity on the Forbes list of America’s Top 100 Charities for 2023 and 2024 and has a 4-star Charity Navigator rating.

The organization has also been recognized as both a top workplace in the Washington, DC metro area (by the Washington Post) and as a top nonprofit to work for in the United States (by NonProfit Times).

Key Responsibilities:

Media Relations and Strategy

  • Identify, develop, and execute strategic media opportunities that elevate Good360’s mission, initiatives, and impact.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with national, regional, and trade media contacts across print, digital, broadcast, and podcasts.
  • Draft, pitch, and place stories, op-eds, press releases, and feature articles in top-tier outlets.
  • Monitor media trends and proactively identify opportunities for Good360 to contribute to timely conversations.

Executive Communications

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive CEO communications strategy aligned with Good360’s brand and business goals.
  • Draft and edit speeches, op-eds, thought leadership pieces, talking points, and presentations for the CEO and other executive leaders.
  • Provide strategic counsel and prep for the CEO’s public appearances, interviews, panels, and speaking engagements.
  • Ensure consistency of voice and messaging across all executive communications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Social Media Manager to ensure alignment between executive/thought leadership communications and content shared across platforms, optimizing for audience reach and engagement.
  • Partner with the marketing and disaster response teams to build out timely, relevant, and mission-driven messaging and talking points for leadership and media.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to source compelling stories and ensure consistency in brand voice across communications.

Measurement and Optimization

  • Track media coverage and executive communications performance; prepare regular reports and recommendations for optimization.
  • Maintain a robust media contacts database and monitor PR metrics using industry tools.
