SUMMARY

To assist in coordinating and implementing a comprehensive program of resort activities for children and adults of all ages. Assume accountability for the scheduled activities in which they are leading while providing guests a safe environment and a positive, unique, sincere and memorable experience! Be the life of the party!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and participate in all daily recreational activities.
  • Serve as a role model for all our guest participating.
  • Use music (i.e- DJ) and act as a Master of Ceremony (MC) pool party events.
  • Be willing to dress up in costumes, sing a song and lose the game when needed, build sand castles, fly a kite and enjoy each adventure!
  • Expected to swim and play games in the water with the children during pool time- swim uniform provided.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment; attending to the needs of participants at all times
  • Register children for camp program, ensuring proper identification is presented and policies are followed.
  • Communicate recreation and childrens programs daily via email to the hotel, outdoor poster board and providing parents with new marketing card when registering children for the day.
  • Enforce policies and procedures as they are developed and established by Management.
  • Ensure that activities in the recreation program are set up and executed on time and in accordance with standard operating procedures and that all games and equipment are in working order and presentable condition.
  • Create, implement, develop, and critique new activities and programs for the guests and group events.
  • Ensure that all property is neatly arranged and clean at the end and beginning of each day.
  • Assists counselors in maintaining club room, play areas, supply closets and storage areas clean at all times.
  • Ensure that all craft and supply areas are organized and maintained to present a professional look to the camp.
  • Complete the daily count report Year to Year comparison on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain up to date inventories of supplies, crafts and games on a monthly basis and submit to Manager.
  • Prepare and submit a minimum of 30 days in advance activity and craft supply orders, according to inventory counts as well as supplies for special events hosted by Planet Kids.
  • Participate in the development and organization of all special events held during holidays and blackout periods for the hotel guest, i.e. Thanksgiving.
  • Attend all training and meetings when requested by Management including monthly department meetings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or general education degree.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp or resort environment.
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English would be helpful.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid (or must obtain within 30 days of hire date)
  • Must be able to swim

REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands

  • Most work tasks are performed outdoors.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.
    • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
    • Able to be outdoors in the sun for periods of time- beach and pool.
    • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task
    • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning and stocking tasks
    • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
    • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
      Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
      Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
      Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, FAX machines, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Communication
    • Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, effectively with guests, vendors and co-workers
    • Must read, write and speak the English language fluently.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule with rotating days off based on programs and hotel needs.
