Summary and Qualifications

Summary of Position 

The Campus Pastor leads their staff, elders, deacons, and congregation to embody The Summit Church’s mission of creating a movement of disciple-making disciples in RDU and around the world. This role focuses on multiplying disciples to the fourth generation and advancing the church’s vision of becoming the most multiplying church. Guided by TSC’s core values—prioritizing the gospel, reaching all people, making disciples, and sending every member—the Campus Pastor helps the campus thrive in fulfilling this mission.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Godly man who meets the requirements of an elder as laid out in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5.
  • Disciple-making disciple: Growing in the 5 identities and teaching others to do the same (worshiper, witness, family member, steward, and servant).
  • Gifted in the following organizational leadership areas: building a healthy team culture, communicating, problem-solving, time management, goal setting, strategic thinking, and a collaborative team player.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time ministry experience or 7 years of work experience in a management or leadership role.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

  • Pastor the Congregation 
    • Love, lead, and shepherd the congregation by teaching the Word, praying, practicing discipleship, and providing pastoral care using the Whole Disciple framework.
    • Lead your Shepherding Elder Team to oversee the spiritual care of the community.  
    • Preach periodically, provide pastoral support such as weddings and funerals, and visit the sick. 
  • Build a Culture of Equipping and Multiplying Faithful Leaders
    • Supervise your staff team to achieve organizational and local campus goals (See Central/Campus Ministry Philosophy). 
    • Oversee the campus budget, empowering staff and ensuring resources are strategically allocated to support ministry priorities while maximizing impact.
    • Create a culture of leadership development to multiply future leaders and disciple-makers. 
  • Pursue Excellence During Weekend Services 
    • Meet and exceed Summit standards in all areas of the weekend service: Stage Time, Guest Services, Summit Kids, Summit Students, Worship, and Production 
  • Reach the City and the World by Sending Every Member
    • To their neighbors: Lead and disciple the campus to embody a lifestyle of personal evangelism. Equip and inspire members to actively share the gospel in word and deed with their neighbors, family, friends, colleagues, and classmates. 
    • Into the city: Lead and disciple the campus to mobilize and bless the city by ministering to the community's most significant needs. 
    • To the world: Lead and disciple the campus by championing the Summit’s vision for global missions and mobilizing the campus to reach the nations through short-term trips and long-term commitments to overseas missions.
