Wage - $16.50 - $17.00
Schedule - Monday - Thursday, 11 am to 3 pm - 20 hours/week
Position Summary:
The Assistant Cook will support the Food Service Coordinator with preparing food items per USDA guidelines and ECEAP Performance Standards. The primary objective is to provide a clean and safe kitchen area for our staff; wash and clean tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment, and keep the kitchen and equipment clean and organized.
Responsibilities:
Support the Food Service Coordinator
- Maintains a Guest focus while performing duties
- Assumes responsibility for the cleanliness of dishware
- Load, run, and unload dish machine
- Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems to the kitchen manager immediately
- Monitor dish machine water temperature and chemical levels to ensure sanitary wash cycle
- Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware
- Keep dish room clean and organized
- Bag and haul kitchen trash to dumpster
- Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss
- Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies
- Clean food preparation and production areas as required
- Closes the kitchen properly
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and food storage area, using public health standards as a minimum
- Ensure dishes are clean and sanitized and delivered to the classrooms in a timely manner along with the meals and snacks

GED or High School Diploma
Experience
- Two years of experience as an assistant cook and in kitchen management
Special Skills
- Knowledge of nutrition and menu planning
- Knowledge in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program
Licensure, Registration, Certification

- HIV-Aids card
- Proof of negative TB test
