* This position will be partially remote, with the expectation of being in the office in person on a rotating basis.

 

Role: The Senior MLO promotes member financial well-being and community enrichment through offering mortgage lending products to existing and prospective members. This position educates members on mortgage lending services and the full range of credit union products with the goal to grow, retain and expand CapEd's Mortgage relationships. Provides subject matter expertise to the Mortgage Lending team and all departments of the organization on Mortgage products/services.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Engages members and potential members in conversations to uncover financial needs including counseling and pre-qualifying potential home buyers, with the objective of enriching the member experience and deepening their relationship with CapEd by linking products and services of value. Monitors all member interactions from application to closing.
  • Consults prospective borrowers and obtains information regarding earnings and financial condition to evaluate the applicants creditworthiness and ability to re-pay the loan. Evaluates loan conditions, repayment methods and collateral specifications, within lending authority. Gathers additional information to complete the mortgage loan application and provide an error free disclosure.
  • Assembles and organizes documents according to procedures before submitting to the processing and underwriting department for approval.
  • Enriches member relationships by reaching out to current members with the objective of deepening their relationship with CapEd by cross selling mortgage products/services and linking other services of value.
  • Contacts potential members and establishes relationships with professionals in the housing market to foster and obtain new mortgage relationships and expand the credit unions portfolio. Offers various mortgage products and services to fit the needs of members.
  • Attends and participates in community affairs and professional groups to attract new business and/or present information as needed.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, policies and procedures, keeps up to date on local real estate market and competitive environments, and maintains familiarity of new mortgage lending products or service trends. Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products, services, and promotions.
  • Contributes to efficient Credit Union operations by performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A college degree and/or professional certification in specialized field of work preferred or equivalent experience and/or education.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes and/or seasonal brightness through windows. This position may involve periodic stressful conditions. The Credit Unions business days are Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; however, this position may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and to include evening/weekend hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
