The Lead Clinical Informaticist is a critical member of the healthcare IT team, responsible for the strategic implementation, oversight, and optimization of clinical information systems. This role combines expertise in healthcare, clinical workflows, and informatics to lead initiatives that enhance data-driven decision-making and improve patient outcomes. The Lead Clinical Informaticist collaborates with IT, clinicians, and administrative staff to ensure that systems support quality patient care, efficiency, and compliance with healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical informatics team, providing direction and oversight to ensure projects align with organizational goals and clinical best practices.
- Optimization of clinical information systems (such as EMRs, EHRs) to enhance usability and efficiency for staff.
- Work closely with departments to analyze workflows and ensure that information systems support effective, patient-centered practices.
- Establish and enforce standards for data quality, security, and privacy in compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CMS, etc.).
- Training of clinical staff to ensure understand and effectively use clinical information systems.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives by using clinical data to identify opportunities for improvement, develop metrics, and monitor outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical and technical teams, translating clinical needs into technical requirements.
- Stay updated on trends in healthcare informatics and recommend new tools and methodologies to enhance clinical decision support and data integration.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting clinical information systems when the office is closed.
