Job Purpose:

The responsibilities of the production leadman is to ensure production workers are actively engaged to meet daily customer orders and production schedule. The production leadman is expected to provide effective training to the production workers and ensures safety and quality standards are maintained at all times. This position will actively work alongside their team; producing quality finished product by using a variety of machines, hand and power tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to successfully produce wired mesh products meeting all standards and deliverables. 

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Following are the specific job responsibilities and duties necessary to accomplish the job purpose.

  • Work with production supervisor and other team leads to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met.
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Use basic problem solving skills to ensure stable operation of the production crew.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Production Supervisor.
  • Work closely with support staff such as HSE Manager, Maintenance personnel, Production Supervisor and Warehouse to resolve issues.
  • Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Production Supervisor.
  • Participate as an active member of the production team.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s QC Department.
  • Follow production instructions, processes and procedures.
  • Complete required documentation relating to production, maintenance, qc or hr requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions. Within  the  scope  of  the  job  requirements,  will  be  required  to  adhere  and  comply  with  state  and  federal  law,  the  Company  Quality  Program  and  procedures,  Company  policies  and  Safety  and  Environmental  Regulations. 
  • May  perform  other  duties  as  assigned  by  supervisor

Qualifications

Essential Skills, Experience and Education:

Following are the skills, experience, education and related course work typically required or expected to perform the essential job functions:

  • High school diploma and 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to work with others collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must  be  able  to  operate, or learn,  a  forklift  and  lifting  devices  for  movement  of  parts. 
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job. 
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. 

 

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

The physical factors and working conditions required or expected while performing the essential functions of the job are described below:

  • Regularly lift, carry, pull and push 50 lbs.  Unassisted.
  • Regularly  squat,  stoop,  bend  at  waist,  turn  at  waist  to  complete  function  above.  Occasional climbing. 
  • Able  to  wear  required  PPE  such  as  but  not  limited  to:  steel  toe  boots,  gloves,  safety  glasses  and  hard-hat.

Required Work Hours and Schedules:

The typical work hours and schedules for the job are indicated below, including the percentage and type of travel, if required.

  • Monday thru Friday
  • 6 AM – 6 PM
  • Occasional overtime and weekends, beyond scheduled hours may be required.
