Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking mission-minded Associates to join us as a full-time (37.5 per week) Registered Nurse to serve our patients at our East Columbus Surgical Center.Â

SUMMARY
Provides patient care and support to the healthcare team in the ambulatory surgical center as needed to support efficient high-quality care throughout the patient experience including monitoring, medication administration, patient assessment, accurate charting in the electronic health record, team communication and response to emergencies. Supports the revenue cycle through accurately and effectively documenting procedures and medications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- In accordance with PPGOH medical protocols, completes appropriate review of medical history and physical assessment, promptly reporting abnormal findings to clinician.
- Admits and releases patients from recovery room. Educates patients on their chosen method of contraception and aftercare instructions.
- Performs timely and accurate charting in the electronic health record.
- Completes appropriate sedation assessment, starts peripheral IVs, administers moderate sedation as directed by the clinician, and monitors sedated patients intra-operatively.
- Coordinates surgical patient flow taking into account the physician on duty and available staff.
- Maintains inventory, supplies and equipment for abortion services including emergency supplies and equipment.
- Performs support of daily inventory count of medication and narcotics, or as required.
- Willing and able to maintain ACLS certification and respond appropriately to medical emergencies, in accordance with PPGOH Medical Standards and Guidelines.
- Assists Clinician and Practice Manager in assuring the abortion services comply with Quality Assurance, Regulatory (ODH, CLIA, PPFA), and OSHA requirements. Maintains surgical services lab and patient logs. Coordinates audits, necessary patient follow-up, and completes necessary surgical service reports.
- Ability to receive and respond to emergency calls from abortion services patients during scheduled work hours.
- Gives injections, i.e. DMPA, and therapeutic medication as ordered by the clinician.
- Performs all necessary lab services including venipuncture.
- Competently performs duties as Sedation and Recovery Nurse.
- Promotes and maintains communication with patients, peers, clinic manager, clinicians, and administration.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- ADN or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.Â
- Current Ohio Registered Nurse license required
- OB/GYN experience preferred; health center experience helpful.
- Med-surg or OR experience preferred but not required
- Bilingual in Spanish highly desired
- Strong commitment to quality health care
