Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Server is the main point of contact for those dining in the restaurant. The Server is responsible for familiarizing the guest with menu items and daily specials, obtaining information on preferences/allergies/dietary restrictions, runs multi-course meals, and tallies bills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items including daily specials, prices, preparation methods and timing, allergy warnings, etc.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, sakes, and non-alcoholic selections, glassware, and garnishes.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of characteristics and description of all sections of the beverage menu including signature cocktails, sake, wine by the glass and major wines on the wine list, & non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Maintain knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation.
  • Greet guests in a timely manner, utilize upsell strategies when appropriate. Maintain positive guest relations and acknowledge all guests, even when busy.
  • Able to complete testing on menu and beverage items and able to complete ongoing training and testing.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests, including proper wine service.
  • Answer questions on menu/alcoholic selections for guests
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • Operate Micros, handle cash, room charges, guest member charges and credit card charges according to procedures
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages
  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, re-cooking orders, and product availability
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day
  • Complete opening and closing duties, including restocking items, setting up and breaking down restaurant. Polishing glassware and silverware, folding napkins, etc.
  • Present physical and accurate check to guests and process payments
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
  • Run food and bus tables when you find extra time
  • Anticipate and address guests service needs
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support your team to reach common goals
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards

  • Able to communicate in a positive and clear speaking voice, especially when the environmental volume increases.
  • Maintain excellent organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to maintain working at a quick pace for extended periods of time.
  • Able to handle multiple guest interactions simultaneously in a professional and polite manner, and at times with guests that require more care and attention than others.
  • Able to read, listen and communicate effectively in English. Ability to speak multiple languages is preferred, though not required.
  • Able to use reasonable judgement when making decisions that impact guest satisfaction.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma is preferred, though any combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
