Description

The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is seeking an experienced and results-driven Salesforce Solutions Lead who can partner closely with cross-functional teams to execute and deliver AMC’s CRM and strategic priorities. This role is pivotal in AMC’s digital transformation, ensuring successful positioning of Salesforce CRM and related initiatives to deliver on our mission to get more people outdoors. 

 

 The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of success in improving processes and adoption of CRM solutions built on the Salesforce platform.

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, the Salesforce Solutions Lead will be responsible configuring, supporting, and maintaining the Salesforce and related CRM systems, including Salesforce Sales Cloud, NPSP, Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud and other related constituent management systems, including configuring new functionality within the system, troubleshooting and monitoring. The Solutions Lead will support and maintain custom functionality built on the CRM platform, such as AMC’s community sites, which manage volunteer and staff led activities within the CRM platform. 

 

The Solutions Lead will be responsible for driving ongoing feature enhancements, supporting evolving business needs, and managing the relationship with our Salesforce systems integrator, development, and 3rd-party application partners. Working within Technology team and with colleagues across the organization, the Solutions Lead will ensure AMC’s CRM ecosystem capitalizes on Salesforce’s full features and benefits. You will act as a Salesforce subject matter expert and driver of digital transformation, in collaboration with internal and external teams, including software vendors when necessary. The Solutions Lead will be responsible for executing the day-to-day configuration and improvement of the CRM platform.  

 

This role involves participating in the overall AMC project and communication processes including planning, dependency management, and workflow planning. You will assist with the full development life-cycle from technical design to development, testing and deployment.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING AT AMC 
 

  • Develop, implement and maintain complex Salesforce solutions, including custom objects, Apex classes, and Lighting Web Components. 

  • Create and optimize Salesforce Flows and process automation to improve business processes. 

  • Partner with technology and cross functional teams to develop and refine enterprise-wide Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) systems, processes, and data structures informed by AMC strategy, business needs and industry best practices. 

  • Work closely with internal and external partners to shepherd various types of CRM technology initiatives from inception through completion. 

  • Configure and maintain the Salesforce instance and applications: manage fields/relationships, workflow rules, page layouts, security, validation rules, email, custom buttons/links, integrations, data management, integrity, and validation. 

  • Assist with administrative functions including user account maintenance, reports and dashboards and workflows.  

  • Facilitate training new users and grow the CRM and Salesforce skill set across the organization.  

  • Ensure data security is enforced using roles, profiles, and sharing rules.  

  • Develop reports, dashboards, and processes to continuously monitor data quality and integrity.  

  • Support third-party CRM applications and integrations. 

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, correct and prevent recurrence of issues, managing the intake, triage and resolution process for CRM-related Service Requests. 

  • Help identify systemic issues, process problems, and other risks and work with the appropriate colleagues to find resolutions. 

  • Maintain and support development, test and staging environments 

  • Assist with CRM software upgrades, including analysis, configuration and testing. 

  • Utilize Agile or other appropriate methodologies to manage project workflows, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to changing project requirements and superior documentation. 

  • Provide regular updates and reports on progress of projects and initiatives, ensuring transparency and alignment with stakeholders' expectations. 

  • Actively seek out, track and escalate impediments to stakeholder business processes and barriers to project completion. Identify red flags and key risks, escalating as necessary. 

  • Provide backup support to fellow IT colleagues for other AMC applications as required. 

  • Communicate effectively and drive a free flow of information with and among stakeholders on all matters.

Qualifications

WHAT AMC IS LOOKING FOR 

 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Salesforce CRM solution developer, lead, or architect, with Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) experience, preferably including Marketing Cloud, Experience Cloud, and 3rd-party platform applications and integrations. 

  • Extensive experience with Salesforce technologies, including Apex, SOQL, SOSL, Lightning Web Components and Experience Cloud 

  • Proficient in building complex Flows and process automation. 

  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, data modeling and security. 

  • Experience with Salesforce integrations using APIs and middleware tools. 

  • Proven ability to design and implement new processes and facilitate user adoption, ensuring AMC staff are well trained in CRM applications and workflows. 

  • Experience working with external consultants and vendors, with a focus on building collaborative relationships. 

  • Solid understanding of change management principles and experience driving organizational change initiatives. 

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, with hands-on experience using Jira for project tracking and management. 

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Participate in after-hours on-call coverage as needed.  

  • Occasionally available nights and weekends to perform upgrades and other work.  

  • Ability to see the big picture and problem-solve the root cause, not just the immediate symptom. 

  • Experience with gathering business requirements and producing well documented feature requests. 

  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to communicate between technical and non-technical contributors, and between technical and project teams and senior leadership.

CERTIFICATIONS 

 

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I and II certifications preferred. 

  • Salesforce Solution Architect certification is a plus.

Salary range:  $95,400 - $128,800

External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
